The internet allows people to do whatever they want a post whatever they want with little repercussions for the most part. It also allows people to freely voice their opinions and look up information at will. This can be good and bad. The fear is that whatever that is on the internet can stay there forever and will always follow you. It takes away from your privacy. With these things, the internet allows people to do more and have more freedom but also have the risk above.
I believe copyright does its job at keeping other peoples work safe and allows them to remain as the owner. I also feel copyright on certain things can be a little to strict and its unfair for certain things to be unusable to the public. For example, certain soundtracks and paint colors are sought after but unusable because they are copyrighted.
I licensed my work as CC BY since I used it from other people. I also believe that people should be able to use art freely especially as inspiration.
Well my experiences making my remix was interesting. I could not come up with an idea and used the help of a friend to randomly pick out pictures till an idea came up. I believe it did come out as expected. It was as hard as I thought it would be since I had no idea how to remix. The only remixes I knew of where music but I do not have the talent of writing and making music.

Artist: Kiyomi Fukui
Exhibition: The Green Thumb Project
Media: Photography, plants
Website: http://www.kiyomifukui.com/
About the Artist
Kiyomi Fukui is an artist that lives in Long Beach. She is a Japanese-American who understands the discrimination that people face in their lives and works to express insecurities and emotions that people face. Her father is a Zanichi and has faced discrimination that she is aware of. She acquired a MFA in printmaking in CSULB and also has a BFA in Graphic design from La Sierra University. She works trying to display insecurities, which makes her work more uncomfortable and different to other people. She wants people to embrace insecurities and change in order to see beauty even if it may cause some pain.
Formal Analysis
Kiyomi Fukui’s project, The Green Thumb Project, uses a paper mold that she makes of thumbs and different plants to make them grow into the shape of a thumb. This art project is a difficult one to work with as the plants continue to grow or die and change throughout it. This project focuses on the stages of the plant’s growth as it takes the shape of the thumb mold, but has many other important parts to it. The thumbs look weird as they are growing out of a mold of a thumb. She grows them by placing the seeds into a paper mold of a thumb.
Content Analysis
To Fukui, this project is a memory of her mother as she took the mold of her thumb before she passed. She focuses on the thumbs as they grow or die and works on perfecting her ability of having a green thumb. She does this because it is a way for her to heal and move forward with the loss of her mother. She knows that loss is something that will always come but the ways to heal are all unique. This was a personal project for her as it has a lot of sentimental value. As Kiyomi Fukui said in her description of The Green Thumb Project, “Loss is universal, but healing comes in many forms. I hope to reflect one form of healing here, where the coping from loss is merged with daily life activity producing further feelings to feel.”
My Experience
I found this project to be weird and interesting. I have not seen anything like it before and was thrown off by the molds of the thumbs. I was unaware that they were supposed to be thumbs at first but understood it the more I looked at it. I enjoyed the reasoning for the project and the meaning behind it. It is disappointing that I do not have more to information other than what was on her page but hope I was able to convey enough information on what her project meant.

Doing the bubble letters of my name was fun and something I have always wanted to try. I have never gotten around to doing it and I am not much of an artist, so I try to avoid most drawing opportunities. It took me many tries to be happy and like the bubble letters and I think I made it a lot harder than necessary. It was hard to draw the letters and make sure everything was proportionate. I was disappointed I did not have the ability to do graffiti art but I enjoyed drawing it.
My idea was to express the masterpiece cartoon strip called “Lost” from the Daily Dot.
I used bottles and a harmonica
Yes, I believe I was able to express my idea to me. I do not know if others would be able to see it or just view it as trash.
I tend to use a lot of gatorade bottles that I recycle and I thought it would be a good material. I really enjoy gatorade so doing more with something I already use enhanced my experience.
A last kiss should last around 5-7 seconds but it also depends on the situation.
I believe a good meal should be eaten quicker than normal because people would not be able to slow down and enjoy the food.
A work of art should last forever in history because it is hard for it to last forever physically.
A marriage should last as long as it is healthy and works.
A human life should last as long as they can recognize and enjoy all the experiences they have had.
Yes, finite time causes things to have a more important experience as people would be more inclined to take the time and fully enjoy them. Infinite lifetime can reach the full experience but is less likely.
Yes, I believe so because they are essential to life.
I believe one person can make a change because even if it is only one person, it is still slowing down the global problem.
The theme of my art gallery is based around the different pixel arts shown. They each are an example of a landscape of a type of environment that varies. From a medieval land to the Roman Empire. It also explores a more fantasy type area with the Ring of Chaos and Deep Purple. I wanted to explore more pixel art because of how much you can do with it. There is no limit to how much you can make with pixel art and that’s why I wanted to explore it.
Game explored: Everybody Edits

The artist that goes by KRATZ shows two different landscapes. Their art shows a ruin and an underground sand land. I enjoy looking at this work because is more on the basic side while the other is a lot more intricate. But both of them show the importance of small detail. Ruins shows a lot more greenery and does give off a ruin feeling. The Ethereal Ground shows lots of water ways and makes it seem like there is an underground city under the kingdom.

The Artist that goes by ANCH shows more of landscaping in their pixel art. I enjoyed exploring these pieces due to how much detail there is in everything. The maps are huge and every part is important and detailed. Their Midnight Meadows is a large map of different levels that gives off a fantasy wonderland vibe. It is very calming and would be beautiful if it were a real place. Landscaping is unfinished but already shows the entrance of an amazing kingdom. I can not wait to see it finished and explore all the detail the artist puts in it.

The artist KANK is more on the fantasy land in their art. It shows two different beautiful fantasy land with intricate detail. Deep purple is a beautiful piece that shows an amazing world in fantasy. The dragon and spire are both well done and detailed and even looks amazing from the large view of the map. Ring of Chaos looks more on the basic side but is a lot more beautiful up close. It shows the different elements as they wrap around all connected. It was a nice world to explore and look at.
The goal of the video was to be an introduction about myself and who I am. It was to show things I like to do and put myself out there in the vlogging world.
I think I did a good job at accomplishing my goal because it was not anything big. I really just wanted to get it over with confidence and feel comfortable with the new activity. Since it was a new experience that takes practice, I am happy with what I made.
I think I could take a little more time with planning it out but I do want to keep it mostly freeform. I feel more comfortable with my performance if I just be me and talk about things that come to mind.
I do not think I will vlog again but I do want to start making videos about what I like doing.
My favorite YouTubers would be a couple gaming channels like Kyroz,MarcoStyle, and BasicallyIDoWRK.
I like these Youtubers because they all have their own funny personalities and have fun with what they do. It’s more of what I would want to do. They also show effort in their video.
They are all funny and do have talking points but it is definitely more freeform. It is better because they just record and take highlights of the funny things they do. It is less scripted and makes it more entertaining.
Authenticity is being genuine and real. To me, it shows that they put a different type of effort into their work and are actually being themselves.
Performance is staging something to have a better show to the audience. It shows effort because it takes prior thought and planning.
I believe they are opposites but can exist together. People have genuine moments but can definitely enlarge them to help put on a show to make it more likable. They both require heart and a way of expressing yourself.
I believe the one at home is more authentic because it is them in their own true environment. They are at their home and are not performing in front of people literally. The one at the studio is more performative as it is on a set and there is planning. But I do believe both have aspects of both sides to fully have the best effect on the audience.

I thought drawing the school campus was going to be easy. Once I started, I immediately messed up the scaling. I believe I had an accurate idea of what our campus looked like and I know of the buildings that I skipped but the sizing messed me up. I definitely forgot about the engineering side of our campus until writing this right now.
Drawing with my brother was very fun and we both enjoyed it even though he did not want to do it at the start. We did not have a plan at the start and just randomly did everything with our eyes closed. We started holding one pencil then added the second to speed up the process. Everything we did was with our eyes closed, from picking the colors to trying to figure out where to draw.
I was disappointed with the results of the map but believed I did a good job. I think the map was kind of good but I realized that I missed many of the buildings around campus.
Doing the project with my brother was fun and we both are happy with the final piece. We believed that we did a very good job with the colors and are amazed with the diversity. It flows from light to dark and does not look that bad even though there’s no real picture. I would want to do this again.
Artist: Mahsa Soroudi
Exhibition: Nature’s Cadence

About the Artist
Masha Soroudi was born in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Her parents both had interest in art with her father being a painter. She grew up in Tehran and graduated from Azad Art and Architecture University in 2006. She graduated with a BFA in Visual Communication. Tehran is Iran’s art capital that has many galleries. She focuses on interdisciplinary topics that can turn into meaningful exhibitions as well as be case studies. She also works to show artists that may have been missed because of unfair exposure.
Formal Analysis
Masha Soroudi’s project, Nature’s Cadence, shows the life of plants through replantation. She changes the environment of succulents by clipping the leaves from the main plant and regrowing it. This piece is ever-growing and changing as the plants grow. It shows the plants as they blossom from the leaves and also hides the unseen portion of the roots. This project kind of has two different points because of this. The plants all look different as some grow faster and slower. One plant almost died but then continued to grow through that phase. The focus is on showing how plants adapt and grow in a new environment, like her moving to the U.S, and shows the effort it takes to achieve that.
Content Analysis
This project shows the effort needed to adapt and grow to continue living in a new environment. It shows the fight needed to survive and gave Soroudi the motivation to do the same. One plant was dying and Soroudi was very disappointed but the plant continued to live and grow. It still shows the dead part on the base of the plant but also has grown a decent size that overcomes that. This project is connected to Soroudi because it shows how she needed to live and grow. The plants represent her adapting in her new environment.
My Experience
I greatly enjoyed listening to this artist during Glenn Zuckman’s interview. Even though it was a video from a few years ago, it still shows a lot of meaning in it that is important now. The project, Nature’s Cadence, has a lot of meaning behind it and a powerful message I believe many should know. It tells a story of her life through the growing of the plants. I enjoyed learning about her projects and do feel inspired by her story.
Even though Life may be hard, It is important to know you must try haarrdd errrrr
People don’t know, what you go through, but it is important to know, that I am here with you
You must stay strong and hold your head up high, because you are the most important in your own life. Dont falter from your dreams and keep it rolling. Dont doubt yourself and think that you wont succeed. Move on< Move forward, dont let your dreams be dreams.
I was trying to convey a type of song that I feel like relates to my life and can be related to by others. I think it was a summary of what I am thinking and what is going on in my life right now.
My process of writing my song was writing down a paragraph of what I was thinking. I then took pieces of it and changed the words to flow into a type of song.
This was definitely as hard as I expected. I was not excited to do this because I knew that writing songs was not something I am capable of.
I do not think my song was successful in any way and I am not proud of what I made. I would prefer not to have written a song and do not think it is something I will try again.
I am not planning on writing a song again because the process is too much and confusing. It does not really work out if you can not visualize the song you want.
If I ever did write another song, I would prefer to make a rap type song about more serious and important things in life.
About the Artist
Sienna Browne is in CSULB’s School of Art for Painting as an undergraduate student. She is currently about to graduate at the end of this semester and get her MBA. She has been painting since high school and has used her experiences to shape what she made. She has used her past problems to be largely influential of the art she made up until the last couple years. She wants to be able to grow and move on from that and proceed to explore her artistic styles.
Formal Analysis
Sienna Browne’s Nuudles art is divided between brightly colored figures to monochromatic ones in her separate pieces. The pieces are meant to represent the female psyche, body empowerment, and self love. There are lots of curves and no straight lines to be found. The detailed piece gives one lot to look at as each area of the painting shows something. There are no bland spots in the pieces. It is very flowy and lively. The art has so much detail that it would take a while to see every little part and take in the full complete picture.
Content Analysis
The picture noodles that are in the shape of nude women. It is meant to show self love and body empowerment using the female psyche. This is a beautiful piece clearly depicts what it was going for. The author says she used her past experiences to influence her in the making of these pieces. She mainly discussed her past with an eating disorder that she wanted to convey in the pieces and also wanted to show how it empowered her to move on. She wants to continue making these types of art and see where it takes her as it is important to her.
My Experience
I greatly enjoyed listening to this artist. She was very passionate and I felt like her art came from a real and genuine place. The art she showed were beautiful pieces that were meaningful to her. They seemed to tell a story about her as she explained it. I was also amazed to find how much I enjoyed looking at the pieces and believe they are one of my more favorite pieces I have seen in my life. I definitely look forward to seeing more of her art.
